Did the person you wanted to get your email actually get it?
Many times the answer is NO. Here's why...
My friend Alex Shakhov, founder of SH Consulting, an email security & deliverability company, just helped me fix the health of my email spam filters and showed me how many "bad actors" had spoofed my domain which caused many of my emails to go immediately to SPAM.
He also helped me "re-authenticate" my Follow Up Boss Domain. I had no idea it had disconnected from the first time I had authenticated it. It was definitely something on FUB's end of the system.
Funny thing, I would have not even looked at it if one of my personal clients hadn't mentioned their issue and how it was taking weeks to get help from FUB support.
The old adage "it's not what you know it's who you know" is alive and well in the real estate tech space in 2026!
Any whoooo...
Here is some more great info from Alex.
Not everyone is aware, but if you send the same email template to two different groups of people — one with @gmail.com addresses and the other with @outlook.com — the open rate tends to be significantly higher for Gmail users.
Why the gap exists
Outlook blocks images by default
Outlook accounts automatically block images embedded in emails by default. Even if your email is opened and read, the tracking pixel — which is usually concealed within images — won't register the activity. The only exception occurs for users who have enabled the "display images" feature.
Key takeaway: Relying solely on email open rate is wrong. A low stat doesn't mean your prospects aren't reading your emails. Email reply rate is what matters today. The more people reply and click on links, the better for your domain reputation.
And one more piece of advice: don't send spammy-looking emails full of images. They tend to trigger spam filters.
My Takeaway: Fancy email signatures that are unclickable and just open a jpg of the image are worthless! Build your email signature inside your CRM and inside your Outlook or GMail settings.
Also notice this email newsletter...
Super clean text. Simple or No images. Signature= your name.
The object is to stay out of spam folders and get in front of as many people as you can to show them you have the knowledge to help them buy or sell real estate. (or in my case help agents fix their systems)
Stay Clean =)
